About Us

In Flight was founded in 2004 as a mobile gymnastics program servicing; Daycares, Private Schools, Cheer leading Squads, After School Programs and Several Private Organizations. As there was a need for a stationary site for skill development, we landed in the Decatur/Lithonia area at Browns Mill Recreation Center (2006) and helped the youth in the community “Reach for the Stars”!

2006-2007

We began competing with only 3 gymnasts.

In April, we had our First Annual End of the Year Recital. All of our Lady Bugs and Butterflies had a blast!

Added Circus Arts Classes

2007-08

Our team grew to 10 Competitive gymnasts and 7 Pre Team Gymnasts.

Several of our girls qualified for State Championships and placed All-Around.

First Annual Maxam Challenge Competition

2008-09

New In Flight Gymnastics Exhibition Team. This team consisted of former competitive gymnasts, current competitors and pre team gymnasts. We visited local schools and YMCA’s to give the girls a chance to show off their skills in a fun and exciting way.

Our competitive season was our best yet, 70% of our competitive team qualified for state!

2009-10

Moved into our very own facility @ 3040 Miller Road!

All of our Level 2 & 3 Gymnasts qualified for State Championships and performed very well.

6 out of 9 of our Prep Opt Gymnasts qualified for Nationals held in Orlando, FL

2010-11

All of our Gymnasts qualified for State Championships!!!

In Flight Gymnast, Ashlee Williams, was named the 2011 Level 3 State Beam Champion!

13 of our Gymnasts competed in the SEC-AAU Regional Competition held in Charlotte, NC.

3 out of the 4 awarded Level 3 - All American Awards were earned by In Flight Gymnasts: Nya Foster (Vault) and Jordan Leverette (Beam and Floor).

11 Gymnasts Qualified for the AAU National Competition in Orlando, FL. We had 5 - 2nd Place Champions and several Gymnasts placed in the top 5 of their age group!!!

In Flight Youth Circus Troupe performed alongside ELEMENT for several events including Atlanta’s High Museum for the Salvedore Dali Opening!!!

If you are looking for dedication, integrity, character building, and most of all patience, In flight is the team you want your child to be a part of. It has been a pleasurable 11 year journey with Coach Derrin. She has always exceeded my expectation beyond measure. With the help of the amazing staff, my daughter has built her self esteem along with proficiency and ability. -Dawne Gill
